Special Features:
- Periwinkles are soft-bodied animals belonging to the Babyloniidae family and they are commonly found in tropical marine regions.
- In Vietnam, periwinkles are distributed from the North to the South and are often concentrated in areas such as Thanh Hoa, Phan Thiet, Ninh Hoa, Kien Giang province, etc. Periwinkles feed on mud and the remains of small animals, including small crustaceans and bivalves.
- Currently, due to the increasing demand for exploitation and the natural scarcity of periwinkles, they are gradually being shifted to aquaculture practices.
- Periwinkles have a thin but sturdy shell, which is cone-shaped and yellow with numerous brown spots. The aperture of the shell is crescent-shaped. The interior of the shell is opaque white. The length of periwinkles is typically around 5-10 cm. They are known to inhabit deep into mud and sand. Periwinkles usually reproduce from March to October each year, with a high rate of egg production.

Way of storage:
- Periwinkle should be stored in the refrigerator compartment (2-8°C) when you plan to cook it within the day. If you intend to store it for a longer period, it’s best to place periwinkle in the freezer compartment with a temperature of -18°C or lower.
