Guaranteed Catch Traceability
At Sai Thanh Foods, we have built a solid supply foundation by collaborating directly with hundreds of fishing vessels and local fishermen in Vietnam’s key coastal regions, such as Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Binh Thuan. This close connection ensures a stable supply of mackerel year-round—with flexible adjustments based on the season—and allows for strict quality control from the very first step. Every shipment is purchased fresh and rigorously inspected for freshness, size, and health status, minimizing the risk of contamination or quality degradation during transit to the factory.
Our commitment to sustainable development is a core value. We strictly adhere to the regulations of Vietnamese fisheries authorities (such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) as well as international standards for traceability and food safety. Specifically, all raw materials are sourced from legal fishing vessels equipped with Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) and detailed fishing logs (including location, time, method, and volume). This completely eliminates risks associated with Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, while meeting the stringent requirements of export markets like Europe and the USA.
Thanks to our comprehensive traceability system—from the sea catch to the final product at the factory—we guarantee absolute transparency in the supply chain. Every shipment can be traced back to its origin in just a few steps. This approach not only enhances our accountability but also provides a competitive edge, giving international partners peace of mind regarding sustainable, legal origins and consistent quality. With a capacity of tens of thousands of tons per year and an extensive partner network, Sai Thanh Foods proves itself as a reliable supplier, contributing to the elevation of Vietnamese seafood value on the global market.
Scientific Characteristics of Mackerel
Mackerel is a small pelagic fish that lives in large schools in tropical and subtropical waters:
Habitat: Widely distributed across the Indo-Pacific, especially Southeast Asian waters (including the East Vietnam Sea and Gulf of Tonkin). They typically inhabit shallow to medium depths (sublittoral zone, continental shelf), migrating near the surface and thriving in warm sea temperatures (25-30°C).
Harvest Season: Available year-round in Vietnam, with the peak season during the dry and transitional periods (March to October, peaking in August-October in Central provinces like Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, and Binh Dinh). This is when schools migrate and spawn heavily, providing the best meat quality (firm and low fat).
Biology: Fast-maturing and typically 15-30 cm in length. They are vital to the marine ecosystem and represent a significant portion of Vietnam’s annual seafood output (hundreds of thousands of tons/year).
