The Indian Mackerel has a long, slender body that tapers towards both its head and tail. Its dorsal and anal fins are long and have small saw-like teeth, giving it an elegant and attractive appearance as it moves through the water.
-
Indian Mackerel ‘s head is relatively small, flat, and slightly tilted upwards, with a wide and somewhat flattened mouth on both sides of the body. The average length of the silver croaker ranges from 7cm to 20cm. This species of fish is known for its schooling behavior, and its high pectoral fins allow it to swim swiftly. It often migrates from one area of the ocean to another during the night. Its primary sources of food are plankton, jellyfish, and marine algae, and occasionally, other crustaceans.
-
The main coloration of the indian Mackerel is silver or grayish-silver on its back and silvery-white on its underside, which is why it’s called the “silver croaker.” The back of the fish typically has dark or deep brown spots, and the upper part of its head is often brown or gray. Its eyes are black and sparkling, making it easily recognizable.
