Yellow Stripe Trevally is a species of nearshore fish belonging to the threadfin bream family. It is distributed in the Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific Ocean, including Japan and the Philippines. In Vietnam, this type of fish can be caught in all three regions, but the catch varies in each region. Yellow Stripe Trevally mainly inhabit coastal waters with a depth of about 50 meters and belong to brackish and saltwater areas. These marine fish species typically live in schools and their primary food source is surface-dwelling organisms.
Yellow stripe trevally has a diamond-shaped body that is flattened on both sides, primarily white-silver in color. There are two yellow stripes running along its dorsal side. The fish’s head is somewhat pointed and it has a large black spot near the gill cover. Both the pelvic and tail fins are yellow. The largest size this fish can reach is around 22cm. This species of fish typically lives in schools and prefers to feed on surface-dwelling organisms. They reproduce at the beginning of summer and the end of autumn.
