Climbing Perch typically inhabit environments such as ponds, canals, rice fields and marshes.

Climbing Perch exhibit reproductive characteristics from April to September in the lunar calendar each year. They are robust and can endure harsh conditions, including prolonged periods of water scarcity, due to their respiratory organs on the gills, enabling them to breathe air.
